Mating Rings / Seats

Mating rings, as their name implies, contact the opposing seal face to form the Primary Interface of the sealing assembly. Unlike the seal with its floating, spring loaded face, the mating ring is a simple, mostly monolithic ring with precision lapped flat face. The mating ring is normally sealed in its position by a secondary seal, typically an elastomer. Ettem catalog Mating Rings are available in metric as well as imperial size range from 25mm (1″) to 100mm (4″) and are offered in standard or special materials. Pressure and temperature limits of mating rings typically equal or exceed the seal’s and therefore are not specified.

Mating Rings / Seats

Type L1 Imperial Mating Rings / Seats

  • Cushioned L-shaped design
  • Appropriate for low to high pressures
  • Accepts all types of elastomers and other secondary seals
  • Fits most inch-based gland plates
  • May be used without a drive pin in low viscosity applications
  • Tolerates up to 0.02″ TIR radial run-out
  • Appropriate for internally mounted seals. Requires positive retention for externally mounted seals and reverse pressure

Type L2 Metric Mating Rings / Seats

  • Cushioned L-shaped design to DIN 24960 / EN 12756 Dimensions
  • Appropriate for low to high pressures
  • Accepts all types of elastomers and other secondary seals
  • May be used without a drive pin in low viscosity applications
  • Tolerates up to 0.5mm TIR radial run-out
  • Appropriate for internally mounted seals. Requires positive retention for externally mounted seals and reverse pressure

Type L5 Imperial Mating Rings / Seats

  • Positive clamped L-shaped design.
  • Appropriate for low to high pressure.
  • Accepts flat gasket seals.
  • Fits most inch-based gland plates.
  • Used without a drive pin.
  • Tolerates up to 0.02″ TIR radial run-out.
  • Appropriate for externally and internally mounted seals.
  • Insensitive to pressure reversals.
  • Protects gland plate from exposure to sealed fluid.

Type O1 Mating Rings / Seats

  • General purpose block-shaped design
  • Most appropriate for high pressure
  • Employs all types of elastomers
  • Fits most inch-based gland plates
  • May be used without a drive pin
  • Tolerates up to 0.02″ TIR run-out
  • Appropriate for internally mounted seals. Requires positive retention for externally mounted seals and reverse pressure

Type T1 Mating Rings / Seats

  • Positively clamped T-shaped design
  • Appropriate for low to high pressure
  • Employs flat gasket seals
  • Fits most inch-based gland plates
  • Used without a drive pin
  • Tolerates up to 0.02″ TIR run-out
  • Appropriate for externally and internally mounted seals
  • Insensitive to pressure reversals
  • Protects gland plate from exposure to sealed fluid
  • Concentric pilot to seal chamber
